Nat Solomon Visits the Agora Gallery Opening

Hi Everybody,
I just came back from visiting an art opening of a new exhibit of artist at the Agora Gallery in Chelsea.  I met 5 artist with their beautiful paintings.  Many of the artists loved to hear words of encouragement as they were standing in from of their masterpieces. I enjoyed chatting with them and even got into the house video which the Agora Gallery was producing. The theme for today is ways to become more known as an artist. It is funny that many of the galleries which feature artists all have their opening parties at the same time between 6 and 8 on a Thursday evening. It was wonderful meeting new faces.

I have won a little money twice, but have always has a great time doing it. I will be playing 6 matches in the next two days. I love Art, Chess, and Science Fiction as Major interests. Yankee Magic

I have to salute the Yankees for creating a culture of winning and expectation. Even though there were times in the teams history where they were not so good, they have won more championships that any teams in Major League history.  Even when they lose many of their major superstars, they still figure out how to do just enough to win the game.
   They are without Jeter, Arod, Granderson. They are missing major pieces in their lineup and still they compete!

Star Trek Thoughts

When I was about 8 years old, I became fascinated by the Star Trek Tv Show. I really enjoyed how the crew of the Enterprise worked together to get out of most trials and tribulations. I thought What a Fantastick Idea Space Travel to Different planets and battling adversaries at the same time. 
   I was particullarly intrigued by Mr. Spock's Character. I admired his hard side and was deeply touched by his soft side.  I was amazed at his extremely tough strong body, and at the same time his attempt at achieving understanding where it came to his relationship with Captain Kirk.  I prided myself on being an old series Trivia Expert! Several people have asked me to do Star Trek or Spaceship paintings! I Might, but What do you think?

Chess comments and Question!

A grandmaster once told me that when a chess player reaches the level of 1800 he stops leaving pieces unprotected. The same grandmaster said that all that seperates an 1800 player from a 1500 player are the level of tactics and abiltiy to see patterns.

Rangers Lack Scoring Power against Bruins!

The NY Rangers are already down 2 games in the semi's to the Boston Bruins!  They are not a strong enough offensive scoring team to get past the Bruins. They don't have enough offensive power to win the Stanley Cup this year. Still, I hope for some respectability against the Bruins!

Knicks are finally eliminated but congratulations for an exciting year!

The knicks were final defeated by the Indiana Pacers in 6 games. After considering this for a while, I feel that the season was a success.  Carmelo Anthony had  a very good season. I believe the Knicks were only one more solid scorer from going deeper into the playoffs. Anyway, no one is going to beast the Miami Heat this year. I will give credit to Mr. Hibbard for very good performances against the knicks.

Knicks Jeckle or Hyde!

The knicks should make up their mind and decide whether they want to play as a team like they did in Game 2 of the Pacer Series or Game one where they don't come out to play at all and can't hit the broad side of the barn.

Knicks Update!

The Knicks are scaring people again, They have lost game 5 convincingly. Carmelo Anthony missed two many shots again, and Jr Smith could not hit the broad side of the barn.  Everyone is hoping that the Knicks will come ready to win game 6 and close out the Celtics.  Stay tune for further updates!

Sports Update

The Jet Enigma!
It is amazing to me that the Jets never truly gave Tim Tebow a chance by building an offense around him and giving him a shot at the starting job. The Jets still have 5 quarterbacks on their rosters currently. Most of the experts are predicting that the Jets will be having another losing season this year. I don/r know if I can completely agree with that. You need to give a quarterback offensive weapons if you want the team to do well. Here is my link to my sports art.

Knicks get clobbered by Golden State

In a late game last knight the Knicks got beaten badly by Golden State 92-63. Carmelo was only 4 for 15 for a total of 14 points.  Amari underwent surgery on his knee and will be out at least 6 weeks. It is unbelievable how a team can look so good at times, and at other times so bad. If Carmelo is not shooting well on a particular night then he should not be taking so  many shots!!

Abstraction versus Realism

In the world of Realism when doing a portrait, the public insists, it must look like him.  In the world of Abstraction, there are no ART POLICE to tell you what you can or  cannot make.  Most of the contemporary artist are somewhere in the middle on this situation. I think it probably depends more so on the type of artwork which you are painting!!

Notes from Nat Solomon the Artist!
   I am a big Star Trek Fan of the original Series. I once drew and painted a picture of Grace Lee Whitney(Yeoman Rand) and presented it to her at a Star Trek Convention.  She autographed it for me at the Convention.
   I used to admire Mr. Spock's cool and calm way of handling problems. I loved the way he interacted both with Captain Kirk, and Doctor Mcoy. Mr. Spock showed an amazing amount of logic and intelligence in handling in almost every situation.

Nat's Sports Summary

Here is my sports summary: In Hockey I like the Rangers chances in this strike shortened season. Lundquest is a great goalie.  I am writing the Mets off as usual. The Yankees are also competitive and I think Youkelis is a great sign for them. The Jets also aggravate me all the time, but I think they really screwed up Sanchez. They should definitely get rid of Tim Tebow, or they should give him a real chance.
   The knicks are interesting, but I think that Melo cannot be the whole team!
