The problem with accepting Checks

Hi Everybody,

I want to talk about the problem with accepting checking from a business perspective. If a new customer sends you a check and you do not know whether the check is any good there could be many problems.

1. The customer could send you a stolen check.

2. The customer could send you a check with insufficent funds in the account.

3. The customer could send you a fake check.

4. At the very least if you send out your merchandise without verifying that you are clear then you are wasting your time, because if the check bounces you could be losing your product and losing your money from the sale at the same time. If this happens you will feel like you wasted your time for nothing .

Question for my readers! What are some safe measures you fellow small business people use to avoid getting burned by a bogus check?
